If you are new to fantasy football, then you probably have a lot of questions about the game.  You might have questions about how long the season lasts, or even about the decisions you will have to make as a fantasy owner.  Here are a few things that you should keep in mind about the fantasy football season.

A typical fantasy football season lasts just as long as an NFL season, and it is also just as exciting.  You will often have weeks of intense action to enjoy during the course of a fantasy football season.  A single regular season in the NFL lasts for 17 weeks, with each team playing 16 games, most fantasy football seasons last for the same amount of time.  This does not take into account the pre-season, where you will have to make your initial decisions about your team.

Depending on your schedule, your team will play against another owner's team every week.  As the season progresses, your team will accumulate points based on how well your players perform.  If you accumulate enough points, your team will earn a spot in the playoffs, where you have a chance at winning the league championship.

Every week, each team owner will submit their starting lineup.  If any changes need to be made to your starting lineup, you must make those changes before the games begin that weekend.

Making weekly changes is extremely important if you want to maximize the amount of points you accumulate during the course of a fantasy football season.  During the course of a fantasy football season, you will make many changes to your team's roster.  Injuries, suspensions, and trades are all things you should look out for, especially if they concern players that are on your team.

In the NFL, every team in the league has one week where they do not play a game, this is known as a "bye week".  Bye weeks are very important to look out for during the course of a fantasy football season, as they will have a dramatic impact on the decisions you make concerning your team.  A player on your team who is in the middle of a bye week will not be able to accumulate any points.  You must stay on top of this and make sure you only have active players in your starting lineup.

You should never wait until the season begins to start making decisions about your team's roster.  The top fantasy football players know that the pre-season is an important time to work out your strategy for the upcoming fantasy football season.
